Post-operative instructions for combination cosmetic procedures
A mommy makeover or combined body contouring procedure typically involves two or more surgeries performed simultaneously — commonly tummy tuck + breast surgery + liposuction. Recovery is longer and requires careful attention.
Combined Recovery Expectations
• Recovery from combined procedures is cumulative — expect more fatigue and a longer return-to-activity timeline.
• Plan for 2–3 weeks off work for desk jobs; 4–6 weeks for physical work.
• You will need a responsible adult caregiver for at least the first week.
• Arrange childcare help — you cannot lift children for 4–6 weeks.
Multiple Compression Garments
• You will likely be wearing both an abdominal binder and a surgical bra simultaneously.
• Follow the specific garment instructions for each procedure.
• Do not improvise garment changes — confirm any modifications with our office.
Drainage
• Multiple drains may be in place. Track each drain separately and label them.
• Drain removal is staggered based on individual output levels.
Activity & Lifting
• Follow the most restrictive lifting guideline among your procedures.
• Generally: no lifting over 10 lbs for 6 weeks.
• Walk frequently but slowly. Progress gradually based on how you feel.
With combination procedures, it is especially important to attend all follow-up appointments. Dr. Yazid will assess each area individually and tailor your recovery plan accordingly.
