Breast Augmentation

Including implant-based and fat transfer augmentation

First 48 Hours

• Rest at home with your head and chest slightly elevated (30–45 degrees).

• You will wake up in a surgical bra — keep it on at all times for the first 1–2 weeks.

• Mild to moderate tightness and soreness across the chest is normal and expected.

• Take prescribed pain medications as directed. Stay ahead of the pain.

• Walk short distances every few hours to reduce blood clot risk.

Drain Care (if applicable)

• Strip and empty drains twice daily, recording output in the drain log provided.

• Drains are typically removed when output is less than 30mL per side over 24 hours.

• Keep drain sites clean and secure the bulbs to your bra or a lanyard.

Bra & Compression

• Wear your surgical bra 24 hours a day for the first 2–4 weeks (remove only to shower).

• Transition to a soft, supportive sports brawithout underwire for weeks 4–6.

• No underwire bras for at least 6–8 weeks unless cleared by Dr. Yazid.

Activity Restrictions

• No lifting over 10 pounds for 4 weeks.

• No chest exercises, push-ups, or chest press for 6 weeks.

• Light walking: begin day 1. Stationary bike (no bouncing): after 2 weeks.

• Return to full exercise: typically 6 weeks with clearance.

• No bra-less running or high-impact activity for 3 months.

Implant Care (Implant Patients)

• Implant displacement exercises may be recommended — follow instructions given at discharge.

• Implants will appear high and tight initially — they settle into position over 3–6 months.

• Avoid direct pressure or trauma to the breasts for 6 weeks.

Fat Transfer Patients

• Avoid direct pressure on the breasts for 6–8 weeks (sleep on your back, wear a soft bra).

• Expect 30–50% of transferred fat to resorb over 3–6 months. Final result is visible at 6 months.

• Compression garments will be worn at the liposuction donor sites.

Call immediately if you   notice: sudden increase in breast size on one side, severe pain not   controlled by medications, high fever, or signs of implant rippling through   the skin early in recovery.
