How to Reach Us
• Phone is always the fastest and most reliable way to reach our team. We strongly encourage you to call rather than email for any clinical questions, symptom concerns, or time-sensitive matters to speak to the on call nurse/PA.
• Office hours: Please call during regular business hours for the fastest response. After-hours messages are monitored for urgent concerns — leave a detailed message and we will return your call.
IMPORTANT — Email Response Time: If you send a message through our website contact form or patient portal, please allow 48–72 business hours for a response. Email is not monitored after hours, on weekends, or on holidays. Do NOT use email for urgent medical concerns, new or worsening symptoms, medication emergencies, or anything that requires a same-day response. For any of these situations, please call our office directly or go to the emergency room if needed.
What to Do If You Cannot Reach Us
• If you have an urgent concern outside of office hours and cannot wait for a callback, go to your nearest emergency room and inform them you are a recent post-operative patient of Dr. Mark Yazid, MD.
• Bring your discharge paperwork and medication list to the ER if possible.
• Ask the ER to contact Dr. Yazid's on-call service if needed.
Your Follow-Up Schedule (Usual but will be individual based on each patient)
• 24–48 hours post-op: Phone check-in or in-office visit as directed.
• 5–10 days: First post-op wound check, drain removal if applicable, dressing change.
• 2–4 weeks: Assessment of healing, removal of any remaining sutures, activity progression.
• 6 weeks: Milestone visit — activity clearance, scar care initiation, garment weaning.
• 3 months: Swelling assessment, early scar review.
• 6–12 months: Final result assessment.
Preparing for Your Appointments
• Bring your drain log (if applicable) with 24 hour logs of how many milliliters are output.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing that provides easy access to your surgical area.
• Write down any questions or concerns before your visit.
• Do not apply lotion, powder, or tape to incisions before your appointment.
Prescription Refills
• Prescription refill requests should be called in during office hours (not after-hours).
• Allow a minimum of 48 hours for refill processing.
• Controlled substance refills may require an in-office visit.
