Post-operative instructions for breast lift with or without implants
First Week
• Rest with upper body slightly elevated. Sleeping in a recliner or with pillows behind you is recommended.
• Your surgical bra provides support and compression — wear it at all times.
• Expect bruising, swelling, and tightness — these peak at days 2–3 and then improve gradually.
• Do not remove dressings unless instructed. Steri-Strips will fall off on their own.
Wound Care
• Keep incisions dry for the first 48–72 hours. Pat gently dry after approved showering.
• Avoid submerging incisions in water (baths, pools, hot tubs) for 4–6 weeks.
• Nipple sensitivity changes are normal — some patients experience increased sensitivity, others temporary numbness.
Bra Protocol
• Surgical bra: Weeks 1–4, wear 24/7.
• Soft sports bra without underwire: Weeks 4–8.
• Underwire bras: Cleared by Dr. Yazid at 6–8 weeks if incisions are fully healed.
Activity
• No lifting over 10 lbs for 4 weeks.
• No strenuous upper body exercise for 6 weeks.
• Return to most activities at 4–6 weeks with clearance.
Scar Locations
• Scars are located around the areola, vertically below the nipple, and possibly in the breast crease depending on your lift pattern.
• Begin silicone gel and massage after cleared — typically at 4–6 weeks.
• Scars fade significantly over 12–18 months.
